With an sound that vacillates between crushing guitar riffs in the vein of Zeppelin or Ty Segal to more subtle glam laced-psychedelia and jazz, Io and the Dryads are energetic, original and striking, be it in the live or the recorded realm.
Lead and musically directed by acclaimed guitarist and songwriter Io Palej – who's performance videos have, in the two short years since moving to Glasgow, accrued over a million views on the Facebook page buskers of Glasgow and the band's instagram - Io and the Dryads combine a modern sensibility and search for musical innovation with the classic /philosophy of Glam, Psychedelic and Heavy bands from the sixties and seventies such as David Bowie, T Rex, Cream and Hawkwind.
Their first single VIPER, a debauched saxophone and heavy guitar driven anthem celebrating the joys of intoxication, will be released on November 18, 2025. Led by an infectious, hooky sax riff and danceable jazz rock drums, the song is an exciting fusion of old and new and emblematic of the band’s musical power and flare.
With Io’s previous project having been described by Tom Robinson of BBC introducing as “Passionate, raw, heartfelt and authentic,” Io and the Dryads have high hopes for their first single and it’s follow ups and an extensive repertoire of stunning original material to back them up…
